The below passage* started with a quote, an idea. Much like any idea, I thought I should expand a little on the matter and clarify what I want to say. As I was constructing the logical sequence that would attempt to prove the quote- of course some editing taking place, rethinking and rephrasing examples- at some point, the next statement was the ending quote. An even better way of saying what I wanted to say.

That's how quotes are made, they are conclusions to thoughts concentrated on a particular subject matter/s.

After having been through the above, now whenever I want to talk about the subject, I start with that final quote, as it is more impactful than the original thought.

Irrespective of whether it is true or not, and regardless of what the subject matter is, you will always try to refine your thoughts. Or at least you should. And that's what quotes are made of.

the passage*

Writers don't write because they want to tell you a story, they write to tell you 'how' the story was [this is the original quote]. All stories are more or less known already. No story, in and of itself, is worth telling anymore. It is all about 'how' you tell that story. Yes the 'what' does play a role, yet minor. It is about the 'how.' Whether in drama, comedy, thriller, history or fiction; it is all about the 'how.'

In writing, how it happened is more important than what happened. [this is the new quote]

You could read the above passage and argue that it is not true. That 'what' happens in a story is fundamentally the most important element. Surely some would agree and some won't.

Yet, if someone just says the last statement. If you've never read any of this and just heard someone say 'In writing, how it happened is more important than what happened.' It will make you stop and think. And even if you conclude that you won't agree, you'd still find the quote admirable.
